“MY disABILITIES” is the working title for a book planned for publication as early as possible in 2019. It features 25+ stories, written personally or with help, that share insights into the worlds of people living with disabilities and disorders. The film aims to create wider interest in the book project.

Editor Aga Knichnicka, scriptwriter/narrator John Francis, coordinator TM, and assistant coordinator John Duthie, with clips provided by several of the book’s contributors, as well as outside film creators.

Aga Knichnicka has a Bachelor Degree in Photography with 10 years experience as freelance videographer and photographer. She comes from Poland and currently lives in Adelaide, South Australia. Photography is her language. She records her personal thoughts and observations through both portraits and images from street life.

For over 50 years John Francis has been a writer and journalist in radio, print, and film. He was a 2001 Rosalynn Carter Mental Health Journalism Fellow. He is now also a personal carer for people with a range of disabilities.

In 2013, tetraplegia redefined the world for TM following a motor vehicle accident in NT. She now likes taking part in meaningful projects related to disABILITIES. In 2017 TM started a blog, WelcomeToMyQueendom.com, to share her post-accident life. She has no experience in filmmaking, but has enthusiastically coordinated production of our film.

John Duthie has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Studies, which lead to a career in I.T. until being hit by a tree at age 44. John now spends time managing the book project, getting involved in politics via the Dignity Party, swimming, caring for his two children, and generally enjoying life.

  1. Great, shows that there are people who care. We are not defined by our physical limitations!
