Black hole

After my injury, I like to see how people talk about my or their injuries.

Doctors:

  • Based on the diagnoses and historical data or experience, you are unlikely doing ….
  • But you are still young, there would be other possibilities in future. Who knows?

(Not firmly to say NO, but still give me some hope)

Physiotherapists:

  • Have a try.
  • Have a rest and do it again.
  • You can do it. Just need more practise.

(Very encouraging)

Occupational Therapists:

  • Let’s try this, try that …
  • Have you tried …
  • Let’s see if there is any alternatives.

(Very creative and have good problem solving attitudes)

People with non-medical background

  • They help me without asking. 😣 (Do I need help? I can do it. Please check with me first!!)
  • May I help you to …
  • When I said, “ I can do it. I can manage it.”. They said, “Are you sure?” (In doubt)
  • Let me know if you need any help.
  • When they offered the help or I asked for help, some of them said, “It is too hard. It is too difficult.”

(Some can see my limitation only. Some let me try but get ready to help if I need. Some do not know how to help. Some want to give up on helping as they see the difficulty and cannot think of other possibilities.)

Unsatisfied Patients:

  • Why me?
  • There is No improvement. The improvement is too slow.
  • I am too old.
  • I can’t do this. I can’t do that.

(Cannot accept the reality. Complaint. Think of excuses. They hypothesise themselves that nothing they can do)

Positive Patients

  • Give me some time, I can make it.
  • Let me try.
  • I can do it. I can manage it.
  • Can we try doing it different?
  • May be today is not my day. Try tomorrow.

(Don’t give up. Keep doing. Look for alternatives)
